Eleven Huesday Deeply Control Balancing Toner | Review

I received this product from Eleven Huesday a while back. But due to personal concerns, I became inactive and didn’t post anything on social media and my blog. I’m trying to make up for lost time so here I am posting my long overdue review of the Eleven Huesday Deeply Control Balancing Toner. There’s a short background about the brand on my review of their Extra Clear Cream here.

PRODUCT DETAILS:

  • Description:  Daily sebum controlling and moisturizing toner that gives gentle exfoliation of keratin with AHA and BHA, and prevents sebum production by normalizing pH balance so that it makes the skin smooth and moist. (*as posted on the packaging)
  • Content:  200 mL
  • Price:
  • Recommended for:
    • All skin types.
    • Dull and uneven skin in need of keratin treatment.
    • Skin of unbalanced sebum production
  • Complete List of Ingredients:

HOW TO USE:  After cleansing, pour proper amount of toner into cotton pad and rub with it over face and neck area. (*as posted on the packaging)

MY THOUGHTS:

Packaging:  The boxes of the products looked the same, white matte box with silver and gray prints. The prints have Korean and English versions on each side. The English version was stated a little differently from the Korean version when translated using Google Translate.

The bottle was made of transparent hard plastic so the contents can be clearly seen. Under the twist cap was a stopper to prevent leaks or spillage, though I prefer pump bottles over twist cap bottles because they’re easier to handle. The batch code, manufacturing date and expiration date can be found at the bottom of both the box and bottle, same as with the Extra Clear Cream.

Notable Ingredients:

  • Niacinamide to brighten and moisturize the skin.
  • Witch Hazel Extract is a natural astringent that helps relieve and protect irritated skin.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate penetrates deep into the skin to help the skin absorb and retain more moisture.
  • Malic Acid, Lactic Acid and Citric Acid are forms of AHA that aid in exfoliation, balancing product’s and skin’s pH, smoothen skin texture, even out complexion, anti-aging and anti-acne.
  • Salicylic Acid is the most common form of BHA that helps unclog pores and reduce acne.

Scent, Texture and Application:  The scent is not strong but it clings to the skin and doesn’t dissipate completely. The scent reminded of what we used to call “kisses” when we were little. It’s those tiny scented pebbles that came in different colors, which supposedly reproduce when you prick them with a needle then leave cushioned in a loose cotton ball. Weird right? If you have a Filipino friend, particularly those born in 1980s to 1990s, ask them about it. Hehe.

This toner is a cloudy liquid with a texture that’s a bit thicker than water. It was recommended to be applied using a cotton pad which was also mentioned by Eleven Huesday before they sent out the product. I’ve read a few articles which said that cleansing and exfoliating toners are best applied with a cotton pad, gently wiping from the inner to the outer part of the face. This way, it picks up excess oil, dirt and makeup, and gently sweeps away dead skin cells.

The product gets absorbed into the skin in about 10 to 15 seconds and doesn’t leave a tacky feeling.

Results:  I started using this during the time my skin was feeling rough and dry due to negligence. This has helped gently exfoliate dead skin and unclog my pores, smoothen my skin’s texture and provide that much needed moisture. It’s very moisturizing and left my skin feeling soft and bouncy. I didn’t experience any purging or out of the ordinary breakouts with this toner. I preferred using a lighter toner in the morning and then using the Deeply Control Balancing Toner at night to help rejuvenate my skin while sleeping. Last summer, I didn’t notice the sebum-controlling property of this toner because my skin was being extra then, meaning EXTRA in sebum production. During the colder months which I think started around November this year, I saw that it helped normalize sebum production. It matched well with my other skincare which are mostly for oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin.

OVERALL:  I find the Eleven Huesday Deeply Control Balancing Toner to be a very good product; great quality, good quantity at a reasonable price. Would I repurchase? Not unless it’s on sale for at least 50% off. I guess nowadays, products with this quality have prices ranging from 1,000 PHP to 2,000 PHP. Though I know that there are still great quality products at really affordable prices, I’d probably gravitate towards those more. This was recommended to me by the brand knowing I have oily-combination skin type. They also mentioned that it’s good to be used during summer. I think it’s great for all skin types but would be more appreciated by those with normal to dry skin. Also, though I tried, I wasn’t too keen on using this during summer because I prefer using toners with refreshing watery consistency during those really hot and humid days, and even nights. But now that it’s Christmas season and the weather has become a bit colder, I’m reaching for this more often.
