Wonder Woman of Pores? | Etude House Wonder Pore | Review

I attended an event some time in May 2017 where there was an Etude House stall with some products up on sale. I was almost out of toner then so I asked for their best seller Wonder Pore Freshner. Unfortunately, they didn’t have stock at that time so I settled for their Wonder Pore Balancing Cream.

I wasn’t disappointed. I was really happy with the product that a week after, I ran to one of their nearby stores and got me the Wonder Pore Freshner to match the cream. I’ve been using the pair since so that’s more than enough time to tell you about my experience. I’ll try to make this short and sweet.

wonder pore duo

Let’s start with their best seller, the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshnerfreshner

It is said to be the total pore solution with the following features: deep cleansing, sebum control, low pH of 4.5, pore tightening, skin clarifying, provides elasticity and moisturizing. It’s also free from mineral oil, fragrance, coloring, talc, animal ingredients and silicone oil.

The liquid has a clear and watery consistency and is in a bluish transparent plastic bottle with a flip-top cap.

Recommended to use morning and evening, after cleansing, before other skincare products. Dispense a small amount onto a cotton pad and gently wipe from the inner to the outer areas of the face.

Locally sold for Php 548.00 for a 250 mL bottle, and Php 898.00 for a 500 mL bottle.

My Thoughts:

It’s fragrance-free but there’s a mild alcohol scent since Alcohol is second on the ingredients list. I’m good with some alcohol in the product but others may not be. This removes dirt and sebum without the tightening feeling. It’s very refreshing to use and I didn’t experience any stinging sensation. The product gets absorbed in the skin pretty easily and dries matte.

I have PCOS, hormonal imbalance and an erratic work schedule. Imagine what that combo can do to your skin. This product helped regulate my skin’s moisture balance and kept it clear from major breakouts. Although I didn’t see any changes with the size of my pores. I used this in the morning and night after cleansing and before serum. All claims proved to be true except for the pore tightening effect.

balancing creamLet’s now go to my first purchase, the Etude House Wonder Pore Balancing Cream.

This is a pore moisture cream containing peppermint extract with a formula that evens out the pore’s oil and moisture balance for smooth pores. Recommended use is to apply after Wonder Pore Clearing Emulsion. Dispense a certain amount and spread gently onto face.

The packaging is a jar made of hard plastic with the cap having a mirror-like finish. The product is a translucent cream gel with a mild fresh scent.

I got this on sale. I can’t remember the exact amount. I think it’s somewhere between 20% to 40% off. It’s locally sold for Php 848.00.

My Thoughts:

balancing cream packaging

Same as with the Freshner, the packaging is very appealing to the eyes and gives the impression of being cool and refreshing. It comes with a spatula and a protective lid under the screw cap to lessen exposure and contamination of the product. I’m not a fan of these types of containers for the same reason where products are more exposed and prone to contamination. If the consistency of the product is soft enough, I would prefer to have them in tubes or bottles.

The cream gel seems tacky after application but eventually dries matte. It’s very light on the skin and helped balance my skin’s sebum production while keeping it moisturized. It lessened the size of my pores and made my skin smooth and soft to touch. My pores were reduced in size a bit for about 3 hours. After which, they start going back to its normal state and produce oil. I used this both morning and night, but I find it best used in the morning before my sun cream because of its light texture.

Overall, I liked using this wonder pair as they both helped balance skin moisture and keep breakouts at bay. Both are recommended for combination to oily skin types. I would have loved to try the other products in this line but my budget only permits for a few purchases every now and then. Hehe.

Have you tried any of these or the other products in the Etude House Wonder Pore line? I’d love to know about your experience too. 🙂

  1. Hi Cris, I’m from Brazil and I’m suffering with my oily skin. I feel like I just waste money with whatever I buy but just don’t work for my skin. I used clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel, but it’s not that good, so I try to use an aloe vera gel from Brazil (helped but in 5 weeks, my face is oily so fast)…I’m very disappointed.
What products you think work best for your skin? The wonder pore is the best moisture you ever used? Sorry about my English, it’s really rusty.
    Big hug from Brazil =]

    1. Hi Deisy, both the Wonder Pore Freshner and Balancing Cream helped manage my skin’s oil and moisture balance. But my skin still produces excess oil a few hours after use. Though it’s oiliness became a bit less than how it used to before I started using these products. The Celeteque Acne Solution Pore Minimizing Serum helped too.

I also use a mattifying primer and finishing powder, can be worn with or without makeup, whenever I go out. I’ve tried the Etude House Zero Sebum Powder (will link the review here later) and Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder. Both effectively keeps oiliness at bay for about 4 hours.

I haven’t tried that many products, but these are what worked for me so far. If in case you decide to try them, I hope they work well for you too. 😊

  2. I emptied out a bottle of the Pore Freshner and it’s pretty good. You are right, I did not see that it improved the appearance of my visible pores but I like that it is refreshing on the face and acts as a special kind of water to hydrate the skin 🙂
